Who are Hashtag Inclusive
During the 2021/22 season, Hashtag United FC introduced an inclusive section to its portfolio. This pan-disability section allows players with a broad spectrum of impairments and health conditions to play football together.
Our award-winning coach, Sonny, founded Inclusive Sports Ability in 2020 to provide a multi-sports club, catering for young adults with pan-disabilities. At this time, Sonny was coaching an open aged group with Basildon Soccability, but unfortunately, the team disbanded. Sonny immediately created a football team called Inclusive United FC. Discussions then took place between Inclusive United FC and Hashtag United FC to consider them joining the Hashtag family. It was agreed that it made sense for this group to be part of a club structure and Hashtag Inclusive United was formed in March 2022.
At the time they joined Hashtag, the team had 18 mixed-sex players aged between 6 and 18. After only 10 months, this number increased to 35. This is a fantastic achievement and highlights the hard work of all involved. The growth of our inclusive section has allowed us to create two teams, one aged between 7 and 14 and the other 15 years plus. Our eldest player is currently 34.
We hope to see further growth, and the club’s long-term vision is to create more structured groups of players aged 7 to 13, 13 to 15 and 16+, which will become our adult team, who will enter the Soccability League next season. We also hope that the FA will re-establish a youth league which will then allow our younger groups to participate in a league format. In the meantime, they will continue to have friendly matches.
The club’s ethos is to ensure that all members can enjoy football in a fun, safe an relaxed environment. This allows them to express themselves and to explore new skills.
Our coaching staff, led by Sonny, are all DBS Checked, FA 1 Level qualified coaches and hold the necessary child welfare and first aid qualifications.
